My story
After two C-sections left me with an unflattering belly, I struggled to find a dress that fit my changing body. I missed the stretchy, comfortable, body-hugging dresses I used to wear—simple one-pieces that carried me through the day. But for my new body, that dress didn’t exist.
Wearing only pants and shirts for decades, I decided to create the dress I couldn’t find. Years of experience in Product Design, gave me the tools and confidence to embrace the challenge.
I started with high-quality, 4-way stretch fabric that’s durable, comfortable, and easy to care for. But stretchy fabrics often cling unflatteringly, especially around the belly and underarms. My focus shifted to a design that stretched selectively, following natural curves without overstretching where it’s not wanted.
Countless prototypes later, I created a dress I was excited to wear. My girlfriends loved it too and wanted their own. Working with women of various body shapes, I refined the designs with tailored solutions.
What began as a fun project quickly grew into a potential business. This year, as I turned 65, I faced a choice: retire or embrace a new adventure. I chose adventure, and a-dress was born!
